2010 08 07 002.jpg - In Tunisia, we had our first experience with cactus fruit, or "prickly pear", and buying delicious juicy dates still on the stalks. The dates were a yummy, cheap, snack as they grow in such abundance here. The prickly pear was juicy and refreshing, but if you were not REALLY careful when handling and peeling them you ended up with very painful fine prickles in your fingers, lips and tongue!! ouch! The best way was to buy them off a stall in the souks or markets, where the seller peels it for you!
